Our History
Established on April 24th, 1943 under the name “Chaldean Iraqi Association” (CIA), this organization has evolved into the “Chaldean Iraqi American Association of Michigan” (CIAAM). Initially founded by a handful of immigrants escaping persecution, it aimed to provide a better life for their families and communities. Through hard work and dedication, they laid the groundwork for a strong foundation that would serve future generations. Since its inception in 1943, CIAAM has acquired and developed two homes – “Southfield Manor,” built in 1981, and “Shenandoah Country Club”, purchased in 1989 and reconstructed in 2002.
